Found a solution!   I use Merriam Websters word finder in order to find CROUP because I couldn't brain. Then,  was just playing around with the letters when  I found PENED.  I've not actually found a definition for that other than the prefix PENE meaning "almost." But Crosswordle accepted PENED.  Still 63 day streak.
